The GRS Intercooler is a high performance upgrade over the standard MINI intercooler. This intercooler will reduce intake temperatures and improve the BHP of your R53 MINI Cooper S or JCW. Featuring a large surface area and core thickness, which increases performance over a standard MINI intercooler, after upgrading to a reduced supercharger pulley an efficient intercooler becomes even more important as airflow is increased which means more air has to be cooled. The GRS intercooler is a quality piece of engineering and has been tested to 100 psi, a precision cut fiberglass and carbon fiber diffuser is included to improve airflow over the intercooler, which can only be found on the GRS. The end tanks have been specially designed to insure a ‘ram air effect’ is achieved through the core to achieve maximum cooling. ‘Boxed end tanks’ with sharp edges do not work as well as ‘Tapered end tanks’ as the charged air can become very lazy. GRS have carefully selected the right ‘tube’ & ‘vain pitch’ to ensure the core is right for this type of top mounted intercooler. The standard Intercooler on the Mini Cooper S will only keep air charge temperatures (ACT’s) down to a satisfactory level with boost levels of no more than around 8-9psi. Once the boost pressures have been increased the ACT’s associated with the higher boost levels can be excessive for a standard intercooler. As ACT's rise, power is lost due to the air containing less oxygen. The GRS Intercooler has been designed to keep the ACT's to a satisfactory level. GRS say when the intercooler was tested on a rolling road it showed no more than 38 degrees at all times, at 13-14psi, thus ensuring that maximum power is always available even in hot weather. GRS Motorsport Version The ‘Motorsport’ version has a diverter welded between the end tanks, this helps spread the air from the bonnet scoop evenly over the core, this design has shown a noticeable improvement in the cooling capabilities over the standard GRS Intercooler. Testing showed a 5bhp increase over the normal GRS intercooler, a GRS customer in Italy using a rolling road carried out tests. Refunds are available within 7 days after delivery for products that are unused and are in original packaging. Special order goods are non-refundable. Products that are damaged in transit to or from the customer can be refunded up to 14 days after the product has been delivered. Products returned to us in imperfect, non-resalable condition will not qualify for refund. Products that are faulty due to manufacturing process are refundable under the manufacturers' warranty for a limited time specified in the manufacturer's terms and conditions. These do not apply if the product has been fitted incorrectly or mis-used, motorsport use could further reduce the manufacturer's warranty. If an order is cancelled or refunded the buyer is responsible for the return of the goods to such address as directed by the supplier and is at the consumer's sole expense.
